California climate disclosure laws: Expert witness testimony
Tom Lyon has been retained as an expert in the California case related to SB 253, also known as the Climate Corporate Data Accountability Act, and SB 261, The Climate-Related Financial Risk Act. As a key expert on corporate sustainability and greenwashing, Tom argues that accurate climate disclosure is important in order to avoid market failures that are harmful to the public interest. 2024 One-SIM Outreach Award
Wren Montgomery, Tom Lyon, and Julian Barg were awarded the 2024 ONE-SIM Outreach Award which recognizes researchers who’ve done an excellent job reaching non-academic audiences. They received the award for their paper entitled No end in sight? A greenwash review and research agenda.

2025 Financial Times Responsible Education Award
Wren Montgomery was awarded the Financial Times award for the paper No end in sight? A greenwash review and research agenda. The award recognizes how academic work that delivers tangible societal and scientific contributions and can “transcend the ivory tower to create real-world impact,” something deeply important to all of the paper’s authors.
